Here’s what I know for sure

“Update portfolio” has been on your to-do list for way too long

and every single time you get close to actually doing it, something more urgent takes over.

In an ideal world, you’d send your portfolio to potential clients, then sit back and let the ‘yes’s roll in.
In reality, you’re holding your breath, refreshing your inbox, and praying they don’t look too closely.
  • That project from 2022 you thought showed range…but now attracts the type of clients you don’t want to work with anymore
  • The work that felt groundbreaking at the time… but now doesn’t reflect the standard of work you deliver (or the rates you’re trying to charge).
  • The case studies that are basically just pretty pictures… but explain nothing about what you did, how you approached it, or why it worked (which means you’re not being seen as a strategist).
  • The service you no longer want to offer, still sitting at the top of the page.

It feels like your portfolio is snap frozen in a version of you that no longer exists.

Which sucks because

You’ve grown. Your skills have grown. Your standards have grown.

But unless that’s shown in your portfolio… no one can see that.

So you add caveats:

“Just a head’s up…some of that work is a bit old.”

“I don’t really offer that anymore.”

“I’ve done more strategic work since then, let me know if you want me to send you the link!”

Instead of owning why you are THE best person to hire and getting replies like, “this looks great, let’s work together”…

You have to fill in the gaps your portfolio left behind.

You subconsciously undersell yourself.

You have to jump on calls to clarify what you *really* do, and which work is relevant.

Or worse, get ghosted completely from clients who don’t have time for all the back and forth.

And it’s why you’re losing work to way less talented freelancers who are better at proving themselves.

I’m so sure you know this…

Your portfolio CAN be one of the most powerful sales tools in your business (not a gallery of past work).

You’re just not sure HOW to make it do that.

Every time you sit down to work on your portfolio, you’re overwhelmed with a dozen decisions, like:

  • What to cut that’s secretly undermining your expertise.
  • What to keep and how to present it in a way that builds trust and position you as a strategic, high-paid freelancer, not just an order taker
  • What order should your projects go in so a client can follow your work and see the value (instead of aimlessly clicking around and trying to find someone else instead).
  • What you’re supposed to say about each project so it shows your unique approach and makes it obvious why you’re worth the rate you charge.

…so you just close the tab and tell yourself you’ll do it later.

And because client work is always more urgent (and had real deadlines), “update portfolio” drops to the bottom of your to-do list.

First, for a week.

Then, a month.

And soon, it’s the end of the quarter and you’re still not attracting the type of clients (or money) you know you should be.

All of that stops here.

You don’t need more motivation or a random weekend where you try (and fail) to fix it all in one go.

You need a structured system to rebuild your portfolio into a body of evidence that backs up your rates and shows clients why you’re worth hiring.

AND the accountability and space you need to get it done properly so you can land the projects and charge the rates you deserve!

Motivation. Structure. Accountability. Off your to-do list by end of April.

That is EXACTLY why I created

Portfolio Al Dente

Three weeks. A clear system. A group of fellow creatives doing it alongside you. And a portfolio you’ve actually hit publish on at the end.

3 week live portfolio course for creatives

Portfolio Al Dente

The 3-week course that gives you a clear, step-by-step system to audit and rebuild your portfolio into a powerful sales tool so you can charge the prices you want, attract better-fit clients, and hit send with confidence.

Plus the live structure, personalised support, and accountability to get it done EVEN IF you have a ton of client work on your plate.
By the end, you’ll have a finished, ready-to-send portfolio… not something you’re still “working on” three months from now.

SERVING LIVE 6TH-27TH APRIL

In case we haven’t met

Hello creative freelancer!

My students know me as the Pricing Queen. My dog Chorizo is indifferent unless I’m holding a carrot.

I’ve been designing professionally for 16+ years, the last decade as a freelancer.

When I first started, I followed what every other graphic designer was doing. I thought so long as I had a portfolio that “looked good,” I’d be set. So my portfolio was just a gallery of pretty mock ups, branding projects I was proud of, and photos of work I created for clients. That’s it.

But even though my portfolio looked pretty…it wasn’t doing any of the heavy lifting to get me clients.

Every time I sent my portfolio link, I’d add caveats like, “I haven’t updated it yet.”

Or as soon as I tried to raise my prices, I’d get pushback because my case studies didn’t show the level of creative direction, strategy, and execution I bring to every single project.

Once I overhauled my portfolio and started treating it like a sales tool that showcases my expertise and my unique approach, everything got easier.

Landing jobs with bigger clients and $30-50k budgets because my portfolio backed up my genius.

Speaking confidently to clients about future potential because I knew what they needed to see and hear.

Sending outreach or pitching emails became easier because I could curate my pitch with my own proof inside my portfolio.

I built Portfolio Al Dente because I kept seeing the same thing: talented creatives with real skills and strong work, losing work to people who weren’t better, just better at proving themselves.

I created this so you’ll know exactly how to update your portfolio AND use it as a sales tool that closes high-paying, better fit clients.

How it works

Most courses just tell you what to do. This one gives you the system, structure and accountability to actually do it.

Portfolio Al Dente is built around four of my own methods and tools. Together, they take you from “I don’t even know where to start” to “I just hit publish and I’m genuinely proud of it” in three weeks.

THE P.A.S.T.A. NOTION TEMPLATE

Served up on enrolment

Forget staring at a blank page (or 12 open tabs) wondering where to start or how to make your portfolio look good. Plug your portfolio pieces into the template and follow the steps week by week, so by the end, you’ll have a perfect ready-to-send portfolio.

THE KNEAD AUDIT

Served up in Week 1

My step-by-step process that shows you exactly what to cut from your portfolio and what to keep so you’re not overthinking every decision or showcasing work that’s repelling premium clients.

THE START METHOD

Served up in Week 2

My tried-and-tested formula for writing case studies that show how you think (not just what you made), so you’re instantly positioned as a high-paid strategist (not a junior order taker). This same process you can then use every time you want to add a new piece.

THE CHEF METHOD

Served up in Week 3

A 4-step process for turning “can you send your portfolio?” into a paid project. You’ll get my full spread of email templates showing you what to say from the first enquiry through to sending your invoice, so you’re not overthinking what to say or cheapening your pitch.

By the end of the 3 weeks, you won’t just have an updated portfolio…you’ll be actively using it to have better conversations and turn enquiries into paid work!

Three weeks. Four frameworks. One portfolio you’re proud to send.

Week 1

PRE-RECORDED VIDEO LESSONS

WALKTHROUGH OF MY OWN PROCESS

OPEN KITCHEN HOURS TO ASK QUESTIONS LIVE

Audit and prepare your portfolio ingredients

Before you can rebuild, you need to know exactly what you’re working with. Week one is about diagnosing the problems, understanding who your portfolio is actually for, and making confident decisions about what stays and what goes.

By the end of week one, you’ll be able to:

  • Use the KNEAD audit to decide exactly which pieces to keep, which to cut, and what to add (with the P.A.S.T.A. template doing the heavy lifting from day one)
  • Understand the key difference between a portfolio built for clients and one built for employers, and stop making the mistakes that are making you harder to hire
  • Walk away with a clear, curated brief for exactly what your rebuilt portfolio needs to include

Week 2

PRE-RECORDED VIDEO LESSONS

WALKTHROUGH OF MY OWN PROCESS

OPEN KITCHEN HOURS TO ASK QUESTIONS LIVE

Rebuild it to showcase your genius

Pretty pictures don’t close clients. Case studies do. Week two is where you transform your portfolio pieces into persuasive, story-driven case studies that make a potential client feel like hiring you is the safest, most obvious choice.

By the end of week two, you’ll be able to:

  • Use the START method to write case studies that answer every client question before it’s asked
  • Collect testimonials the right way so they pack the most punch and overcome the specific objections your clients actually have
  • Use Hannah Bacon’s InDesign case study templates so your portfolio looks as polished as the work inside it

Week 3

PRE-RECORDED VIDEO LESSONS

WALKTHROUGH OF MY OWN PROCESS

OPEN KITCHEN HOURS TO ASK QUESTIONS LIVE

Serve your skills and start closing clients

The portfolio is done. Now it’s time to use it. Week three is about building a clear, repeatable process for getting your portfolio in front of the right people and actually winning work.

By the end of week three, you’ll be able to:

  • Use the CHEF method to respond to enquiries in a way that builds confidence and moves a client toward yes
  • Know exactly when and how to use your portfolio at each stage of the client journey, from the first enquiry to the moment they hand over the money
  • Leave with a maintenance plan and a bundle of email templates so you never have to guess what to say again

PLUS for live diners THAT JOIN FOR APRIL 2026

Each week, I’ll also run multiple Open Kitchen Calls where you can bring whatever you’re stuck on with your portfolio to the table. You’ll get live feedback and direction on what to cut, what to keep, and what to say, so you can make decisions quickly and keep your portfolio moving forward.

You’ll also be part of a private community of like-minded creatives all rebuilding their portfolios at the same time. Use this space to share drafts, give feedback and keep each other accountable so you don’t fall off halfway through. PLUS add your questions between calls and get them answered!

This is for you if

Portfolio Al Dente is the right seat at the table if…

  • You’re an established creative freelancer who’s worked with real clients and projects…but your portfolio doesn’t reflect the standard you deliver now (or the rates you’re trying to charge).
  • You’ve had “update portfolio” on your to-do list for months but every time you open your website or that half-finished Notion doc, you get stuck on what to change first… and end up closing it again.
  • Your portfolio looks good at a glance…but it’s mostly visuals with very little explaining how you think, what you did, or why it worked.
  • You’ve sent it to potential clients before and had to follow up with extra context because it didn’t quite say what you needed it to.
  • You want a clear, step-by-step system and accountability to rebuild your portfolio, not just more inspiration
  • You’re ready for your portfolio to sell your work, bring in better-fit clients and make client conversations feel a heckuva lot easier

I’d skip this one if:

  • You’re looking for a course that covers how to technically build a website from scratch
  • You’re not willing to put aside a few focused hours each week over three weeks to do the work
  • You want a quick fix (this is a structured process and it requires showing up for it)
  • Your portfolio is already insanely perfect and you’re drowning in client work… in which case, what are you doing here???

You might be thinkiNG

A few things worth knowing…

I don’t have time for a 3-week course right now

The lessons are pre-recorded and designed to be worked through at your own pace within each week. There’s no sitting through live sessions at a set time. Your content lands in your inbox and you work through it when it suits you. If you can carve out a few focused hours each week, you can do this.

And consider the alternative: another few months of sending your portfolio with a caveat. Another enquiry that goes quiet. Another job that should have been yours.

I’ve tried to update my portfolio before and it never gets finished

That’s exactly why this course exists. The reason it never gets finished is that there’s no system. You’re starting from scratch every time, getting overwhelmed, and stopping.

Portfolio Al Dente gives you a step-by-step process, a Notion template that does the heavy lifting, and a community keeping you accountable. By the end of three weeks, you’ll have hit publish.

My portfolio’s fine, I just need to swap out stuff

Swapping old work for new work is a good start. But if the new work is still presented as pretty pictures with no context, no story, and no clear evidence of what it’s like to work with you, the problem is still there. This course teaches you not just what to put in, but how to present it in a way that actually sells.

I can probably just figure this out myself

You probably could. But you’ve had this on your to-do list for a while now and it hasn’t happened yet. Sometimes what you need isn’t more information. It’s a structure, a system, and a deadline. That’s what this is.

$497 is a lot for a portfolio course

One client who finds you and chooses you because your portfolio finally backs up your skills will cover the cost of this course. Probably several times over. The question is how many more jobs you can afford to lose while your portfolio stays the way it is.

Can we get the bill, please?

If you’ve made it to this part of the page… You already know its time.

Here’s the truth: your portfolio is never going to feel finished. There will always be newer work, better work, work that shows a different side of what you can do. That’s actually the best part about being a creative. You keep getting better.

But waiting until it’s perfect means waiting forever.

And while you wait, the right enquiries are landing and going quiet. The right clients are finding you and not choosing you. The version of you that deserves to be hired for that dream job is being undersold by a portfolio that doesn’t back it up.

Three weeks from now, you could have a portfolio you’re genuinely proud of. One you send without the caveat. One that does the selling for you while you get on with the work you actually love doing.

The work is good. It’s time your portfolio proved it.
