Let’s run a lil scenario.
If you overcharge a client, you set the bill too high for the client to afford, they can say no, go elsewhere, and you can both move on to something else.
They can find someone to fit their budget, you can put your energy into a client opportunity that can afford your price tag. Or they say yes, and you get more budget to do what you are great at!
But when we undercharge, when we put a cost on it that doesn’t feel enough or justified, and the client says yes, we get into a cycle that is hard to get out of.
We undercharge, accept that as the standard, get scared about charging any more than that, and ultimately finding ourselves at the end of the job with a pit in our stomach.
It’s regret from not charging enough because we know we are worth more.
It’s regret that we didn’t stand up for what we believe in, our own worth.
It’s regret because if we could do it over again, we would in a heartbeat.
